TITLE: Girls Basketball Head Coach (1) and Assistant Coach (1) (Stipend) Positions

PAY: Stipend Position(s), payable at the end of season:

  • Girls Basketball Head Coach ($5,425)
  • Girls Basketball Assistant Coach ($3,625)

LOCATIONS: On-site/may involve travel

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.

2. Assesses student’s skills and assigns team positions.

3. Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.

4. Works with the administration in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.

5. Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary.

6. Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.

7. Observes students, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.

8. Determines event and game strategy based on the team’s capabilities.

9. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times.

10. Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.

11. Develops, maintains, and communicates team rosters to administration meeting any imposed or required timelines.

12. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.

13. Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.

14. Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.

15. Models positive sportsmanship behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials, and spectators.

16. Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with the school community and stakeholders.

17. Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.

18. Works with the administration to develop a policy for awards and achievements for recognition.

19. Participates in special activities to include school community recognition, informational and recruitment events.

20. Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.

21. Models non discriminatory practices in all activities.

22. Ensures that the gym, storage area, locker rooms, fitness room and any other occupied areas are properly maintained and during and after use by players and coaches.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:

  • Valid Driver's license
  • Required Criminal History background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal alien status
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in assigned sport with related activities.
  • Experience coaching at a high school or college is preferred, but not required.
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
  • Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of rules, regulations, techniques and strategies.
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication skills

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

HOURS: Flexible hours including some evenings and weekends

RATE: This is a Stipend position, payable at the end of the season (per contract)
