POSITION:           Media Center Specialist – Part Time                      

.5 FTE Position, 2.5 days per week, or flexible schedule structures considered

The West Long Branch School District is seeking a part time Media Center Specialist to develop and coordinate district educational media services and assist teachers and students in the use of information literacy skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all media center materials, and coordinate the clerical efforts of assigned staff in using and maintaining the system.
• Evaluate, select, and requisition new media center materials.
• Maintain electronic databases and networks
• Provide support in developing the media center budget.
• Provide consultative support in the selection of books and other materials to supplement the instructional program.
• Provide consultative support in the coordination of library skills instruction with classroom instruction to achieve state curriculum content standards and district educational goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and School Library Media Specialist Endorsement.
• Minimum experience as determined by the board.
• Demonstrated ability related to collection development, information technology, research methodology and library program designs for children and adolescents.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 10 Month Contract. Prorated salary and benefits as negotiated between the WLB Board of Education and the WLB Education Association.
• Tuition reimbursement available.
• Opportunities for stipend and summer work available.
• Compensation: Prorated 0.5 part-time salary based on WLBEA salary guide step ($60,290 to $92,560) *Pending the conclusion of negotiations*
