General Summary: Responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs for learners enrolled in the education program as well as providing family consultation services to assigned families.

Reports To: School Principal

Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm with 45-minute lunch

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assisting the teacher in providing instructional and behavior reduction programs initiated by the teacher
  • Assisting with the arrival and dismissal of assigned student(s)
  • Assisting in collecting, reviewing, and preforming basic analysis of data under the direct supervision of the teacher
  • Assisting in the preparation of progress reports
  • Participating in the development of Individualized Educational Plans
  • Assisting in the supervision of assigned student(s) throughout the school day
  • Contributing to home visits
  • Contributing to the development of instructional and behavior reduction programs
  • Reporting emergencies and injuries as per REED Academy policies and procedures
  • Attending and participating in staff meetings and trainings
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of classroom and other areas of the facility
  • Other tasks and responsibilities to support the educational programming of students

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (at minimum): Education, psychology, or a related field preferred
  • Demonstrate proficiency with core competencies within the first 90 days of employment which include: Implementation of discrete trial instruction, use of motivation systems, implementation of behavior support plans, se of electronic data collection, and management of data portal
  • Multi-task and sustain attention for extended periods of time
  • Demonstrate competency with implementing principles of applied behavior analysis in the presence of a variety of stakeholders (e.g., parents, administrators, visitors)
  • React appropriately to crisis situations
  • Demonstrate professionalism in the areas of physical appearance, language use, and receipt of feedback
  • Provide physical support to students
  • Obtain and maintain PMT certification
  • Demonstrate oral and written proficiency with English
  • Demonstrate proficiency with using a variety of computer systems (PC, Mac, iPad)
  • Demonstrate basic proficiency with Microsoft Word


  • $38,000 starting salary with Bachelor's degree - $40,000 if ToSD certified

  • Potential opportunities to receive BCBA supervision after 90 days and subject to performance and availability
  • Follow 12-month school calendar with 8 weeks vacation embedded plus 10 personal/sick days
