Lifeguard - Hourly As Needed

Position Available:                       Lifeguard - Hourly As Needed
                                                       Twelve (12) Month Position                                                                                        

School / Program:                        The Educational Services Commission of New Jersey: Aquatics and Fitness Center

Start Date:                                     Immediately - pending criminal history review

REQUIREMENTS:                                

• Must be at least 15 years of age                                                       
• Current Lifeguarding, CPR/AED Pro, and First Aid certification                                                        
• Experience lifeguarding/teaching swim lessons
• Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma preferred.
2. Less than High School diploma must have experience directly related to the    duties and responsibilities specified.
3. Knowledge of pool equipment and maintenance.
4. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
5. Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
6. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
7. Skilled in swimming and lifesaving techniques.
8. Current lifeguard training, first aid and CPR certifications.
9. Other qualifications that the Board deems appropriate.

1. Oversees and ensures the safety of the patrons in the swimming area.
2. Monitors the activities at the pool to prevent accidents.
3. Rescues swimmers in danger.
4. Administers first aid.
5. Follows the emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency.
6. Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas.
7. Teaches swimming lessons.
8. Attends workshops/trainings as needed for the position.
9. Knowledge of customer service standard and procedures.
10. Other duties and responsibilities that the Board deems appropriate.

 REPORTS TO: Aquatics Coordinator

Hourly Rate: $21.00/Hr - Hourly As Needed
