DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

 JOB DESCRIPTION:

 The Director of Institutional Advancement shall be responsible for administrative leadership and planning in fundraising, alumni relations, and special events. 

 

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

      .Creates and maintains a strategic plan and annual calendar for fundraising, alumni relations, and special events. 


  •  Leads the formulation, development, and implementation of stewardship policies and procedures to ensure proper solicitation, receipt, recording, and recognition of gifts and donations for all fundraising activities at Don Bosco Prep. 


  •  Meets goals and objectives as communicated in the Don Bosco Prep/Meitler Consultant Strategic Plan.


  • Follows the school’s policies and standard processes.


  • Raises funds for campaign objectives, annual fund goals, academic programs, 

        scholarships, and endowment funds in accordance with the DBP’s mission and vision. 


  • Achieves effective stewardship of Don Bosco Prep’s financial resources. 


  • Reports directly to the President and serves on the Administrative Team. 


  • Plans and leads advancement initiatives to capitalize on Don Bosco Prep’s success story by engaging a broad range of constituents to grow the endowment. 


  •  Directs committee for academic scholarships and financial aid by tracking donors and  identifying recipients.

 

  • Leads and manages staff in development, alumni relations, and special events, and assists in marketing & communications. 


  •  Leads advancement staff in goal setting and reviews and communicates to staff clear performance expectations. 


  •  Responsible for hiring, supervision, and evaluation of staff professionals and related personnel within the department of Institutional Advancement. 


  • Works closely with senior administrators and trustees to identify short- and long-term priorities for fundraising. 


  • Researches, identifies, cultivates, and solicits major gift donors and prospects, including individuals, corporations and foundations. Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects. Establishes relations with all public and private funding sources. 

  

  • In collaboration with the President and Principal, identifies campus-wide projects and initiates solicitations to support academic and other campus-wide initiatives.


  •  Establishes and follows Institutional Advancement procedures with regard to prospect management and documenting contacts.


  •  Responsible for oversight and submission of all relative fundraising reports, statistics, projections, and publications. 


  • Works collaboratively with the Director and the President on donor prospect development for major gift solicitation. 


  • Maintains overall responsibility for the Advancement budget. 


  •  Oversees and maintains an annual planned giving program. 


  •  Facilitates a communication system for all constituents (i.e. web page, social media, etc.) 


  • Cultivates and maintains relationships, including making visits, with major donors with the President and others as appropriate. 


  • Acts as a DBP Ambassador for public speaking engagements, etc. 


  • Assists in the coordination, production, and dissemination of DBP publications.


  • Sets fundraising goals and objectives with Administration, Board of Trustees, and others as needed. 


  •  Promotes DBP priorities and image to constituents.


  •  Provides information for and supports the members of the Institutional Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees. 


  • Writes grants to procure external funding and supervises grant-funded projects.

          

  •  Any other tasks as assigned by the President.
