The Benjamin Banneker Preparatory Charter School is seeking a talented food service director.

As a BBPCS food service director, you will promote the achievement of students’ educational goals and  learning objectives by providing students with healthy nutritious meals to ensure better performance and memory function.


  1. Associate's degree or equivalent educational experience, and at least 2 years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs. Specific majors of: food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field.
  2. Serve-Safe Certification, or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  3. Able to work without direct supervision, maintain schedules, set priorities, and organize tasks.
  4. Serve-Safe Certification, or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  5. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time. There is bending at the waist, pushing, pulling, twisting, and turning.
  6. Employee must regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
  7. Must be a positive contributor as a team player.
  8. Good oral and written communication skills.
  9. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.


  • Believe and personify the mission, vision and goals of the school, and the Banneker System.
  • Maintain systems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving of food related products, as well as menu planning and development
  • Ensures food handling and serving is performed by individuals who have completed an approved food safety training.
  • Updates and maintains a School Food Safety HACCP plan and standardized recipes per USDA standards.
  • Conducts period inventory
  • Maintains high standards of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, food storage areas, and cafeteria.
  • Ensure proper storage of all food in accordance with USDA requirements on a daily basis and before school breaks (summer, Christmas, and spring break).
  • Attends training approved by the Chief School Administrator on menu planning, software, and/or school nutrition.
  • Schedules two inspections by County Health Department each year as required by OPI School Nutrition Programs.
  • Meal Count reports-Point of Sale documents – coded rosters, coded ticket counts, or computerized POS documentation for breakfast and lunch
  • Civil Rights-must complete training within 30 day of hiring
