LDTC (Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant) - Clark NJ

Horizon Staffing Resources is actively recruiting for a LDTC (Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant) in Clark, NJ. The LDTC is responsible for case management, conducting parent meetings, and testing for classified students in a middle school level. The LDTC will evaluate students and determine accommodations/modifications students need to succeed. The ideal candidate will have previous experience evaluating and/or teaching students with special needs.

Schedule/Hours:

• Monday through Friday, 3 days per week
• 8:00am – 3:00pm

Qualifications:

• Previous experience evaluating students with special needs
• Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate with Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant Endorsement
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education
• Demonstrated ability to effectively assess children’s learning characteristics, design appropriate instructional strategies and plan educational programs

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates students and determine accommodations/modifications students need to succeed
• Communicates learning plans effectively by conducting parent meetings
• Administers assessments based on the student evaluation plan as determined in the identification or re-eligibility planning meeting
• Keeps well-informed of diagnostic tests and materials, and any changes in tests and materials
• Conducts necessary tests and performs additional alternative evaluations if diagnosis is unclear to ensure that all areas of suspected disability are addressed
• Includes classroom observations and/or work analysis as a part of all evaluations
• Attends identification meetings for students on caseload; attends meetings in which results from an evaluation need to be shared/interpreted with the team
• Writes reports using a reader-friendly terminology, and explains to parents the student’s evaluation findings in a clear, understandable context
• Stays abreast of IDEA and local regulations regarding the special education eligibility of the student
• Collaborates with special education staff to streamline processes and procedures connected to evaluation
