Anticipated Vacancy

Overview:
The Manager of Student Information Systems (SIS) and Data Services serves as the district’s lead database manager, responsible for maintaining the integrity, functionality, and efficiency of all student data systems. This role ensures accurate and timely district, state, and federal reporting while supporting staff in the effective use of data-driven applications. The position plays a critical role in aligning data systems with instructional, operational, and reporting needs across the district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain all aspects of the district’s Student Information System and related database platforms
  • Ensure data integrity, system interoperability, and compliance with reporting requirements (e.g., NJSLEDS and other state/federal reports)
  • Provide ongoing support and training to staff on data systems, including gradebook applications and digital report cards
  • Maintain and manage integrations with instructional and hosted applications in alignment with interoperability standards
  • Collaborate with staff and administration to identify data needs and develop solutions to support instructional and operational goals
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors to troubleshoot issues and stay current on system updates and enhancements
  • Lead or coordinate project teams, including internal staff and external partners, to support system improvements and implementations
  • Develop and deliver user support resources (e.g., guides, videos, trainings, and help documentation)
  • Work collaboratively with the Digital Learning and Innovation team to ensure efficient and effective technology operations
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning to remain current with trends and best practices in educational technology and data systems
  • Attend meetings and events, including occasional evening commitments, as required
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Office of Digital Learning and Innovation

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of database technologies and system integration
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive student and staff data
  • Experience analyzing, documenting, and improving database systems and procedures
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to support a wide range of users
  • Understanding of usability, database design, and user experience best practices
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level systems across Windows and Apple environments
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and system reliability practices
  • Respond appropriately to support, evaluation and changes in the work setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a computer-related field or computer-related technical school.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Learning Management Systems
  • Experience working with student information systems in a school district setting
  • Experience working with the PowerSchool Student Information System
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in student data systems
  • Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to work with formulas, percentages, and basic statistical concepts
