PreK - 12 Dean of Instruction (10-month Administrator position)

Approximate Start Date: August 28, 2026 

Salary for the 2026-2027 Year - $81,500

 

This position includes full health benefits. If choosing to waive out of health benefits, you will be entitled to receive an annual waive out payment of approximately $5,000-$13,000 dependent upon plan/coverage.

 

Job Summary: 

The Dean of Instruction supports district instructional improvement through coaching, professional learning, and collaboration with staff and administrators. The role provides job-embedded support for teachers, specialists, interventionists, and aides, facilitates p rofessional learning communities, and serves as a resource for new staff as they develop effective instructional practices aligned with district priorities in order to improve the quality of program, learning, and performance PreK-12.

 

Qualifications:

 

  1. Valid New Jersey Supervisor, School Administrator or Principal Certification
  2. Five or more years of successful classroom experience preferred

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  • Assists in the coordination and facilitation of instructional coaching & professional growth activities for staff working with PreK-12.

? Facilitate ongoing instructional coaching cycles with teachers, specialists, interventionists, and instructional aides.

? Provide job-embedded support including co-planning, modeling instructional strategies, classroom visits, and reflective feedback.

? Support staff in implementing effective instructional practices such as (but not limited to) checking for understanding, questioning techniques, student discourse, and active learning strategies.

? Support the implementation and sustainability of instructional strategies introduced through external coaching partnerships and district professional learning initiatives.

? Ensure equitable access to instructional coaching and professional learning opportunities for staff across grade levels, departments, and roles.

  • Assists in the coordination, implementation, and review of district instructional initiatives for instruction and connected activities PreK-12.
    • Partner with building administrators to implement district instructional priorities and improvement goals.

? Assist in the design and facilitation of professional learning aligned with district initiatives and identified instructional needs.

? Support the implementation of research-based instructional frameworks and strategies across classrooms.

? Support the implementation of effective co-teaching practices and collaborative instructional models that strengthen inclusive classroom instruction.

? Support the implementation of effective instructional practices aligned with the external coaching provided for our core instructional programs PreK-12.

  • Assists in the coordination, implementation, and review of the district’s multiple tiers of instructional supports, aligned across PreK-12.
    • Work collaboratively with teachers, interventionists, specialists, and aides to ensure small-group and intervention supports align with core classroom instruction.

? Help strengthen the district’s multi-tiered system of supports by ensuring consistency and coherence between Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 practices.

  • Support the district’s focus on effective data-informed instruction PreK-12.
    • Assist staff in analyzing student learning data to inform instructional decisions and targeted supports.

Support teachers in using formative assessments and other data sources to guide instructional planning.

  • Assists in the coordination and facilitation of new staff support and orientation activities district-wide.
    • Serve as a resource for newly hired staff through orientation, onboarding sessions, and ongoing support throughout the school year.

? Assist in the facilitation of new staff roundtables to provide a collaborative space for questions, reflection, and sharing instructional strategies.

? Provide coaching and guidance to help new teachers build effective classroom practices and navigate district instructional expectations.

  • Support the district in the coordination and facilitation of targeted professional learning communities (PLCs) as needed.
    • Support the development and facilitation of Professional Learning Communities focused on targeted instructional strategies and district priorities.

? Assist PLC teams in analyzing student learning, identifying instructional needs, and implementing research-based strategies to improve outcomes.

? Provide resources, modeling, and facilitation support to help PLCs maintain productive, data-informed discussions.

  • Collaborate with building principals and district leadership to support instructional priorities, strengthen teaching practices, and advance building and district instructional goals.
    • Work in partnership with principals and district leaders to identify areas of instructional focus and support building-level goals.

? Provide non-evaluative instructional support to staff while maintaining clear distinction from the formal evaluation process.

? Support building administrators by identifying instructional trends and assisting with strategies that strengthen feedback and instructional improvement across classrooms.

  • Support the development, implementation, and effective use of instructional programs, resources, and technology to enhance teaching and learning across PreK–12 classrooms.
    • Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs, resources, and materials.

? Support staff in the effective use of instructional technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Promote continuous instructional improvement by building staff capacity through coaching, collaboration, professional learning, and reflective practice across the district.
    • Help build internal instructional capacity across the district through sustained coaching, collaboration, and professional learning.

? Contribute to a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous improvement among staff

  • Coordinate special projects and other initiatives PreK-12.
    • Assist in the interpretation and review of assessment data with administrators and teachers in order to support the planning of action steps.

? Assist in special projects as assigned by the superintendent or curriculum coordinator.

? Assist in school, district, and town celebrations with the administrative team in various manners as needed when other administrators are unavailable, which may include (but is not limited to) 

¦ preparing, serving, and cleaning up after various food events (ice cream, slushie, popcorn, cotton candy machines, etc.) 

¦ participation in district and community events

  • Review and provide services which conform to district objectives, policies, and state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Articulate and support the goals of the district to the community and staff.
  • Prepare reports for Central Administration and Board of Education as necessary.
