Harrison Township School District has an opening for a Supervisor to assist with the District's curricular and instructional programs. Experience with developing and implementing district corrective action plan and familiarity with NJ State educational monitoring (QSAC) preferred.


  • Maintain valid and current New Jersey Department of Education provisional or standard Supervisor Certificate
  • Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with specialization in the areas of administration and/or supervision
  • Minimum of five years of full-time classroom teaching experience
  • Knowledge of state assessments at all grade levels

 Reports To:  Superintendent of Schools or Chief Academic Officer

 Job Goals:  The Supervisor or Instruction and Program collaborates with the Chief Academic Officer in supervising instructional staff, as well as the District’s curricular and instructional programs.  The Supervisor or Instruction and Program assists in leading district instructional improvement by providing ongoing professional development opportunities, the coaching of staff, overseeing committees, and mentoring instructional staff as assigned.

 Performance Responsibilities: 

  1. Oversees the development and implementation of any required District Corrective Action Plan when mandated by the New Jersey Department of Education.
  2. Reviews district data regarding standardized test scores to identify targeted areas for improvement 
  3. Gathers and analyzes school based assessment data throughout the year (benchmarks) to be used for data-driven instruction
  4. Assists school personnel and administration in analyzing data for continuous improvement of student achievement in mathematics and ELA.
  5. Work with teachers at all grade levels to incorporate best practice pedagogical strategies.
  6. Assists in the development of in-services, as identified by needs assessment, for all members of the school community.
  7. Facilitate school-based high-quality professional development, working with teachers (in teams or individually) to refine their knowledge and skills.  Training vehicles could include in-class coaching, peer observing, workshop delivery, and/or modeling of instructional strategies across the curriculum with teachers based on student needs, etc.
  8. Supports staff in the implementation of a rigorous curriculum by coaching, collaborative planning, and direct support in the classroom and serves as a resource person for teachers with regard to educational programs, teaching techniques, and teaching strategies.
  9. Coordinates extended academic programs as needed to support targeted student subgroups.
  10. Serves as the District’s Response to Intervention Coordinator.
  11. Serves as the District’s Gifted and Talented Coordinator.
  12. Supports the coordination of Homebound Instruction for the District.
  13. Perform other related duties as required by the position or assigned by the Superintendent or Chief Academic Officer.

 Terms of Employment:    12 months

Evaluation:   Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy of non-instructional personnel.
