Science Teacher

Saint Vincent Academy seeks dynamic, student-centered Science Teachers for the upcoming academic year. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience teaching Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Biomedical Science, including Biomedical Innovations, as well as Biology. Candidates with expertise in Environmental Science and Ecology are also encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate is passionate about inspiring young women to pursue STEM fields and is committed to fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and academic excellence within a Catholic, college preparatory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach high school science courses, including Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology  and/or PLTW courses such as Biomedical Science and Biomedical Innovations
  • Develop engaging, inquiry-based lessons, laboratory investigations, and hands-on learning experiences
  • Integrate technology, engineering design principles, and current scientific research into classroom instruction
  • Assess and support student growth through timely feedback and differentiated instruction
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and student success
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, interdisciplinary initiatives, and school-wide STEM programming
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Participate fully in the life of the school community, including faculty meetings, student activities, in department meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Biology, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field; advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience teaching high school Biology
  • Teaching certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred
  • Experience teaching Project Lead The Way (PLTW) strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of biological sciences and inquiry-based laboratory instruction
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to the mission and values of a Catholic college preparatory school

Preferred Qualities

  • PLTW certification or willingness to obtain PLTW training
  • Experience designing laboratory, research, and project-based learning experiences
  • Passion for mentoring and encouraging young women to pursue careers in science, medicine, engineering, and other STEM fields
  • Collaborative spirit, creativity, and enthusiasm for contributing to the school community
