Summary
Chatham High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Football Assistant Coach for the upcoming 25-26 seasonal football program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This position requires collaboration with the head coach and coaching staff to develop athletes' skills, promote teamwork, and instill sportsmanship.
Responsibilities- Assist the head coach in planning and organizing daily practice sessions and game strategies.
- Provide instruction and support to student-athletes in skill development and game techniques.
- Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team skills.
- Help maintain a safe and positive environment for all participants during practices and games.
- Contribute to the development of game plans and strategies for competitions.
- Assist in managing team logistics, including equipment inventory and transportation arrangements.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations and progress.
- Promote and uphold the values of teamwork, discipline, and respect within the program.
- Attend all practices, games, and team meetings as required.
- Assist with recruitment and retention of players for the football program.
Requirements
- NJ Teaching Credential OR NJ Substitute Credential
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of football rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the football season.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
- A passion for the sport and a commitment to the development of young athletes.
