IMMEDIATE VACANCY

POSITION:           SCHOOL NURSE (Must hold NJ Certification as a School Nurse)

FULL-TIME:          5 days per week

HOURS:               7:45 am - 2:45 pm            

YEAR:                  2022-2023 School Year 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School Nurse’s responsibilities are as follows:

• To review and update all medical records to insure the health and well-being of all students of Bergen Center for Child Development. This shall include yearly dental and physical examination reports
• To coordinate with Orthopedic Surgeon Scoliosis Screening and report to parents
• To conduct yearly eye examinations to ascertain if follow up is required with qualified Optometrist and report to parents
• To obtain parental and physician authorization for administration of medications at prescribed times such as: epileptic drugs, psychotropic drugs, antihistamines, or any medication(s) pursuant to the child’s well-being and administer same
• To provide first aid treatment in compliance with the rules and regulations set by the Board of Education having jurisdiction
• To review and update yearly existing disaster plans in compliance with NJ rules and regulations
• To compile and update a list of students’ specific allergic reactions and report same to teachers and cafeteria staff
• To notify NJ State Department of Education of all communicable diseases and where required under the law notify Federal Center for Disease Control
• To contact parents when indicators are present that a doctor should be seen
• To coordinate with the Director the exclusion of children from school when in violation of NJ Administrative Code or Title 18A
• To check children upon return from illness
• To meet with staff members when necessary regarding physical and/or emotional problems in order to implement a plan of action
• To notify the parents of illnesses, etc. and any first aid delivered during school hours and follow up in writing any notification by telephone
• To transport or assist in transport to hospital (with record) “any student requiring emergency medical treatment and to complete all reports of same”
• To administer Mantoux testing when necessary
• To schedule and implement Family Life Program; to keep a parent/staff library on books, periodicals and filmstrips; to coordinate home/school programs of interest

QUALIFICATIONS:

• New Jersey Certification / School Nurse                                                    
• Experience Preferred
• Criminal Background Check - Clearance
• Drug Screening - Clearance

Salary:                  $64,000 per year
