Description The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving 3,700 students Pre-K through grade 12, seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative professional for the position of Grade 6 English Language Arts teacher.

The North Plainfield English department is a humanities-minded and student-centered department committed to the development of a school community that is academically rigorous with a commitment to building cultural understanding, fostering literacy and critical thinking. This is a full-time, tenure-track position.

For those still in the process of attaining certification, please know that the North Plainfield District is approved for participation in the NJDOE Limited Certificate Program which may allow you to work in a full time role as you complete your final certification requirement.    

Qualifications Include:
  • New Jersey Teacher of English Certificate required
  • Ability to successfully implement the district's reading and writing program
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility and familiarity with the Google Apps for Education, and Student Learning Standards in the English Language Arts Classroom
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues both inside and outside the English Department.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and the public
  • Spanish Bilingual is encouraged to apply
Salary: $66,765 (minimum) to $99,470 (maximum) commensurate with experience
