Description

The Reading Specialist is committed to enriching the minds of our elementary school students of different academic levels. You will be responsible for providing specialized learning experiences and supervision of special education students in a supportive and positive classroom environment in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEP).

Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall welfare of each individual student during the school day. Provides instructional support, resources, materials and training to teachers to enhance instruction. Maintains regular communication with families and/or guardians, the Principal, clinical staff and other staff as needed and participates in IEP meetings to ensure goals and objectives of all IEP plans are being met. Assess new students to determine the level and needs of the students for reading and works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to design reading programs and resources to enhance student programming.

Requirements

Must have appropriate NJ certifications; Reading Specialist Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped or content area. Must have Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or Reading and Literacy. Must have a minimum of two years experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disabilities as well as experience with positive behavioral supports.
