REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction
At the discretion/direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, the Director of Teaching & Learning and Innovative Projects will:
- Develop innovative strategies anchored in current research to ensure academic success for all student groups.
- Directs and coordinates the District’s Summer School Programs and intervention and enrichment activities for students.
- Develop and facilitate innovative project and grant alignment that will support school improvement and academic achievement throughout the District.
- Assist with overseeing, writing, submitting, monitoring, and coordinating grant reimbursement programs.
- Oversee the development, implementation, revision and evaluation of the District’s curriculum and all district instructional programs for content-based and innovative projects.
- Work directly with the Assistant Superintendent to provide research and resources to develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan for all schools (grades K-12) that reflects the latest research and standards for specific curricula and support strategies needed to ensure student achievement in all schools.
- Works and facilitates efforts with content area supervisors to provide interdisciplinary experiences across the curricula.
- Provides the necessary support to content area supervisors and principals in order to implement innovative building level programs in all disciplines.
- Research and organizes programs for the participation of students in appropriate competitive programs on local, national, and international levels.
- Assume overall responsibility for the development, editing and printing of assigned curriculum guides and curriculum publications.
- Attends conferences, workshops and other important meetings as necessary in order to keep abreast of new materials and trends in the areas of assignment.
- Maintains appropriate records, files and documentations of program activities and effectiveness; submits periodic reports concerning areas of assignment.
- Identify work study and internship opportunities for students pursuing immediate entry into the labor force or alternate post-secondary institutions of study. Also works with colleges and universities to explore pre-college experiences for identified students for both high school and college credits.
- Works with Labor Relations and Employee Services to recruit, screen and interview appropriate staff for the areas of responsibility.
- Reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction to develop budget recommendations and overseeing budget related to grant funding aligned to K-12 program and innovative projects.
- Participates in the process of developing and conducting on-going program evaluation in the areas of responsibility.
- Coordinate special projects, and grants and innovative district and school programs for the Division of Curriculum & Instruction.
- Assist the Division of Curriculum & Instruction with providing instruction, direction, support and monitoring of school improvement at the district and school level based upon current data as well as the evaluation of school improvement implementation.
- Assist the Division of Curriculum with monitoring and support in the professional development for leaders, teachers and district staff aligned to the district improvement plan and school improvement plans.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with local education leaders, community stakeholders and external partners as appropriate.
- Identify gaps between current and desired instructional and innovative programs, as well as make recommendations for improvement.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction and/or designee.

- Working knowledge and proficient level of experience with Microsoft Office Suites.

- Ability to manage budget contracts and memorandum of understandings with community partners and contract staff and supports.
- Respond skillfully and efficiently with resources and related services to administrators as needed to support school innovation.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of records and reports as required by federal, state, and local procedures.
- Valid NJDOE Instructional Certification
- Valid NJDOE Administrative Certification as Principal or School Administrator
- Minimum experience as determined by the Board.
- Ability to plan, organize and administer a district-level professional development program.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in the areas of responsibility included in the job description.
- Required criminal history background check and eligibility to work in the United States.
