Academic Interventionist
(Pending availability of funds and Superintendent’s approval)


The State District Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Academic Interventionist.


Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. New Jersey Department of Education Permanent Teacher’s Certificate.
  3. Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience.
  4. Awareness of relationships that must exist between home and school in order to administer a successful project.
  5. A working knowledge of federal and state regulations, specifically those identified in the No Child Left Behind Act.
  6. Knowledge of New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
  7. Letters of recommendation, which should include one (1) from current principal or supervisor.
  8. Possession of a driver’s license, valid in New Jersey, only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
  9. Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made for their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
  10. Ability to work extended learning time hours.
  11. Two letters of recommendation, which should include one (1) from current principal or supervisor.


Responsibilities

  1. Works directly with students to reach mastery.
  2. Designs and implements academic interventions using research-based methodology in Reading and Math.
  3. Demonstrates high levels of professional conduct and exemplary teaching of individuals and small group instruction that result in high levels of student learning.
  4. Provides data-drive instruction for Math/LAL for all K-8 students during the school day. (This could be done through small group instruction, both in and out of the classroom with flexible grouping.)
  5. Analyze student achievement data to determine target interventions and the development of materials.
  6. Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  7. Develops and/or coordinates the development of exemplary unit plan materials including high quality sequences for each unit, teaching tools for each standard, and additional teaching materials for teacher use and student practice.
  8. Communicate with school personnel and

  10. Performs other duties consistent with specific contractual terms of employment, as assigned by appropriate staff


Reports To: Principal

Salary, Terms & Affiliation

  1. Salary Range: $54,500 - $98,041
  2. Employment Period: Ten (10) Months
  3. Union Affiliation: Newark Teachers’ Union (N.T.U.)
