STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) 

Middle School Teacher


  • Work to achieve New Jersey Learning Standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board-adopted curriculum and other appropriate learning activities
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
  • Set specific objectives through lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans, and carry through the presentation to effectively achieve these objectives
  • Monitor students' academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction and behavioral improvement plans. Effectively communicate standards and progress with parents regularly.
  • Maintain productive relationships with parents and other staff members
  • Maintain records of students' educational and behavioral progress in the Powerschool system and summarize as appropriate
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning
  • Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students
  • Maintain professional competence and pursue continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities
  • Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees, and other school system groups
  • Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy
  • Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as may be assigned by district administration. 
  • *We are looking to create a robust Robotics program where students will work towards competing as teams. 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • NJ Teaching Certificate for Middle School Science or Math and additional Elementary certification preferred
  • Familiarity with and Robotics is required.
  • Our 1:1 Technology initiative has created a paperless environment in which a strong technology background is required.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Criminal history background check
  • Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
