Assistant Varsity High School Girls Soccer Coach

Location: Mount Saint Mary Academy, Watchung, NJ

Reports to: Athletic Director

Overview:

Mount Saint Mary Academy is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated individual to join our athletic department as the Assistant Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in soccer, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive, competitive environment for our student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the head coach with all aspects of the Varsity Soccer program, including practice planning, team strategy, game preparation, and in-game coaching.
• Develop and implement a season plan, including training, skills development, and fitness programs that promote individual and team growth.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to athletes emphasizing the importance of academics, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages hard work, dedication, and mutual respect among players.
• Work collaboratively with the athletic director, and other school staff to ensure the success of the soccer program.
• Attend all scheduled games, tournaments, and team events.
• Ability to ride on the bus to away events.
• Maintain communication with parents regarding team activities, schedules, and player progress.
• Ensure adherence to all league, district, and state regulations and safety protocols.
• Manage team rosters, equipment, and uniforms.

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
• A strong knowledge of soccer rules, strategies, and training techniques.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes, creating a positive and competitive team environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• A commitment to fostering a safe and respectful athletic environment for all students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience playing competitive soccer.
• Knowledge of high school athletic programs and compliance with state and league regulations.

Compensation:

• Competitive seasonal stipend ranging from $4,000 to $6,000 based on experience and qualifications.
