REPORTS TO: Manager of Facilities


The Supervisor of HVAC/MEP is an experienced supervisor with detailed knowledge of the proper design, installation commissioning, warranty, maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. This person shall ensure all aspects of the HVAC/MEP physical plant are operating safely and efficiently.


1) Provides technical guidance regarding the inspection, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, alteration, and repair of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure and asset inventory

2) Establishes a routine maintenance management program

3) Troubleshoots system operational issues

4) Prioritizes infrastructure repairs

5) Implements process improvements and industry best practices

6) Administers service contracts and evaluate contractor performance

7) Supervises staff maintenance mechanics

8) Manages BMS (building management systems) and work order process

9) Responds to emergencies

10) Develops and manages budget and staffing

11) Assists in the development of a comprehensive multi-year maintenance plan

12) Maximizes productivity

13) Reviews design drawings and participates in pre-construction activities

14) Performs other duties as assigned


1) Experience in the design installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment systems, electrical systems, and plumbing

2) Experience in supervision of associated trade mechanics and contractors

3) Knowledge of industry code and compliance requirements in a school environment

4) Knowledge of indoor air quality guidelines and energy management opportunities

5) Knowledge of construction standards

6) Industry certifications and licenses such as: ASHRAE, refrigerant (EPA 608), black seal, etc.

7) Valid New Jersey Drivers’ License

8) Ability toprepare clear, accurate and informative reports

9) Ability to utilize MS Office Suite

10) Demonstrated ability to work with others
11) Satisfactory interpersonal skills

12) Knowledge basic project management best practices

13) Must be able to:

a. Work independently and prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to needed changes

b. Comprehend technical language

c. Effectively prioritize work requests

d. Exercise considerable judgement and initiative

e. Manage time effectively

14) Such alternatives to the above as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

15) Required criminal history background check and eligibility to work in the United States
