Teacher of Science
Life Sciences and/or Physical Sciences
Full-Time, Tenure-Track Position

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School experience is preferred, but not required.
• Candidates must have knowledge of current NJ Science teaching standards.
• Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry and/or Physics NJ Teaching certification required.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship, or legal resident alien status.
• Applicants must meet regulated licensure and NJ state certification requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence, including analysis of case studies, demonstrations, and laboratory experiments and activities.
• Create daily lesson plans and learning activities for students based on national, state (NJSLS-S), and school standards in science education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviors.
• Explaining science concepts and principles to the students in a comprehensible manner in the form of discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations and independent practice using a variety of proven methods.
• Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency or level of interest in the subject.
• Maintain a safe, orderly and supportive classroom by modeling expected behavior and standards, promoting positive interactions and quickly addressing behaviors that are not in line with the school discipline plan.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress, potential and behavior periodically through phone or electronic means and at parent and teacher conferences.
• Must report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
