Overview

The Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District is seeking a dynamic, engaging professional to serve as our new Director of Athletics & Student Activities. The successful candidate will have proven vision and energy to elevate the already outstanding athletic and student activities program at Ramapo High School. This is a high-impact leadership position at a school that lives at the powerful intersection of championship tradition, community pride, and the development of our student athletes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction, supervision, and evaluation for the full spectrum of athletic and extracurricular programs, ensuring seamless coordination between coaches, advisors, teachers, administrators, students, parents, and the community.
  • Build and sustain a collaborative culture where coaches and advisors can excel while advancing the district's mission of excellence.
  • Oversee all operational aspects of interscholastic and intramural athletics, including scheduling, contracts, transportation, equipment management, inventory, facility maintenance, and game-day operations.
  • Lead financial stewardship: manage budgets, requisitions, receipts, expenditures, and complete record-keeping with transparency and accountability.
  • Recruit, screen, recommend, orient, train, and evaluate coaches and activity advisors; conduct meaningful performance reviews and post-evaluation conferences.
  • Ensure full compliance with NJSIAA, league, district, and state policies, while maintaining thorough knowledge of all rules and regulations.
  • Supervise the student club advisors, maintain attendance and website records, plan assemblies, arrange transportation, and support advisor success.
  • Develop press and social media releases, organize award ceremonies, support Booster Clubs, and present a positive image of the athletics program to the broader community.
  • Participate in school planning, recommend improvements, work with facilities and operations teams, and contribute to professional organizations to elevate professional expertise and the program's reputation.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • NJDOE Principal Certification or eligibility as well as Teacher Certification
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in organizing and administering a successful high school-level athletic program, preferably with at least three years of experience in a similar Athletic Director position.
  • Proven ability to foster a positive learning environment and uphold high standards of conduct for student-athletes
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills

Compensation

  • Twelve-month contract year with a salary between $140,000 and $158,000+, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
