  • Assess student abilities, strengths, and areas for growth, using data to guide instruction.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure each student’s success.

  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, inclusivity, and positive behavior.

  • Support students in developing both academic and life skills that prepare them for success beyond the classroom.

  • Communicate regularly with families to celebrate progress and provide meaningful updates.

  • Valid New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification

  • NJ Teacher of Science or Math certification

  • Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered teaching philosophy

  • Creativity, flexibility, and resilience in addressing diverse learning and behavioral needs

  • Excellent communication skills for working with students, families, and colleagues

  • Commitment to being an active, collaborative member of a professional learning community

Why Join The Calais School?

  • Supportive Culture: Work alongside a passionate, collaborative team that truly values your ideas and contributions.

  • Make a Difference: Every day you’ll see the impact of your work in the lives of your students.

  • Professional Growth: Opportunities to share best practices, learn from experienced colleagues, and develop new strategies for reaching students.

  • Respect & Appreciation: Be part of a school that understands and honors the challenges and rewards of teaching.

  • Student-Centered Mission: Join a school that prioritizes building on student strengths, celebrating growth, and creating meaningful learning experiences.
