Anticipated Strings Music Teacher (Elementary and Middle School) – Leave Replacement

Position Purpose

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Music Teacher (with a focus on Strings) to inspire elementary and middle school students through engaging, hands-on musical experiences. The ideal candidate will foster a lifelong appreciation for music while creating a positive, inclusive and student-centered classroom environment. Start date: 9/1/2026 - 6/30/2027

Key Responsibilities

1. Teach general music classes to elementary and middle school students, with emphasis on string instruction (violin, viola, cello, and/or bass).
2. Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with district curriculum and New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
3. Provide foundational and performance-based instruction in strings, including technique, ensemble playing and musicianship.
4. Inspire students through vocal, instrumental, strings, movement-based and performance-centered activities.
5. Create a welcoming classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and student abilities.
6. Integrate music technology and interactive instructional tools to enhance student engagement.
7. Prepare students for concerts, performances, and school-wide productions, including string ensemble performances.
8. Organize and coordinate rehearsals, performances, and special music events, including orchestral or string-focused groups.
9. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student growth and school initiatives.
10. Encourage creativity, teamwork, confidence, and a lifelong love of music and strings.
11. Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging music learning environment.
