Minimum Qualifications:
  • Hold a valid NJDOE Certification with an endorsement of Supervisor, Principal or School Administrator, Standard preferred.
  • Hold a Master's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Have excellent administrative and teaching experience working with adolescents, including experience as an athletic coach.
  • Hold and maintain current first aid certification and CPR certification.
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with no serious violations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the regulations regarding the operation of an athletic program.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize, implement, supervise, coordinate and evaluate the instructional program that ensures that each student meets and exceeds the NJ Learning Standards in Health and Physical Education and that Cross Content Workplace Readiness Skills, consistent with the mission, philosophy, values, and instructional goals of the District, and meeting all laws, codes (e.g. N.J.A.C. title 6, chapter 29), Board policies and regulations.  
  • Organize and supervise a comprehensive program of interscholastic and intramural sports to complement and support the NJ Learning Standards and the philosophy and mission of the District, in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a team recruitment and selection system with performance criteria that is free of prejudice and stereotyping, ensuring that all student athlete eligibility requirements are met.
  • Ensure that all physical education and health professional staff and athletic coaches maintain current first aid, CPR and applicable mandated certifications.  Hold re-certification sessions to assist the staff with compliance.
  • Provide opportunities for effective staff development that address the needs of the instructional and athletic programs and the needs of the staff, including clinics, workshops, conferences, visitations, demonstration lessons and sessions. 
  • Observe, evaluate, support and provide feedback to all Physical Education, Health and Driver's Ed staff and athletic personnel under your leadership.
  • Represent the school and District at community, State, athletic league, N.J.S.I.A.A., and professional meetings.
  • 12-month employment contract.
  • Must attend all Athletic events and maintain office hours.
  • Reports to the Superintendent.
