Description Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Performs confidential secretarial and clerical responsibilities necessary for an efficient and effective office that assists the Superintendent of Schools and/or their designee.

Required Qualifications and Skill-Set:
  • Earned a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited university or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates excellent secretarial skills, including at least 50 words per minute at the keyboard with a minimum of errors, general bookkeeping skills, organizational and filing skills,
  • and using electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or equivalent computer programs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license with no serious violations (if applicable to assignment).
  • Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette with proper voice inflection.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Exhibits a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community, including in difficult and emotional situations.
  • Provides evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and the Department of Education has given clearance. During the initial six months, provide a sworn statement that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
  • Provides evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
  • Passes the State-required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
  • Meets alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Physical Requirement
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Must be able to work late to attend assigned Board of Education meetings and district events.
