The Shamong Township School District is seeking a Director of Facilities & Security to oversee the planning, maintenance, safety, and security of all district buildings and grounds. The Director will ensure that facilities are clean, safe, well-maintained, and efficiently operated while supporting district safety initiatives and emergency management procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall operation of district buildings, grounds, and facilities.
  • Supervise custodial, maintenance, and grounds staff and coordinate departmental activities.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and summer cleaning schedules.
  • Monitor and evaluate building safety and security procedures, including participation in district and building-level crisis management teams.
  • Assist administration with monthly security drills and evaluate the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
  • Maintain safety and security systems including cameras, door locks, keypads, and alarm systems.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for maintenance, custodial, grounds, and security operations.
  • Coordinate facility repairs, renovations, and improvements, including oversight of outside contractors.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to facilities, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee district programs including Integrated Pest Management, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), and Asbestos Management.
  • Maintain relationships with local law enforcement and support district safety planning.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a Black Seal License issued by the State of New Jersey.
  • Post-secondary training related to facilities management or professional responsibilities.
  • Certified Educational Facilities Manager certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school construction, plant operations, maintenance management, and school safety procedures.
  • Experience supervising facilities staff and coordinating maintenance operations.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
