Pope John XXIII Middle School located in Sparta, New Jersey and is part of the Catholic Academy of Sussex County.  Pope John Middle School is a thriving school, with an enrollment of 210 students in grades 5-7, committed to providing a rigorous faith-based curriculum that offers many opportunities.  Our community maintains high academic and behavior standards and challenges each student to achieve his/her personal best.  Our staff is committed to helping students develop the life skills that are required for them to be successful in their future endeavors.  These include a strong work ethic, effective organizational skills, reflective listening, and good interpersonal skills.

Middle School Theology Teacher

Middle School World Language Teacher

Qualifications & Skills

  • Current, valid NJ state teaching certification required (CE, Provisional, or Standard)
  • 2+ years' teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to build rapport with middle school-age students
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable record of helping students achieve high test scores
  • Proficient with Educational Technology, specifically Google for Education.

Pope John Regional High School is looking for a Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach for the 2025/2026 fall season and a Head Girls' Volleyball Coach:

Position requirements:

  • Must be on campus from 2:50 PM until the conclusion of practice and/or athletic contests, including both home and away games, which may take place in the evening or on weekends.
  • Demonstrated experience and competencies relevant to the position’s performance responsibilities.
  • Completion of a required employment background check.
  • Must hold a valid CPR/AED/First Aid certification or obtain certification prior to the start of the season.

Job Goal:

  • Plan, coordinate, and promote a comprehensive cheerleading program that meets the needs and interests of the school community.
  • Provide effective leadership that fosters a positive learning environment and emphasizes academic achievement, teamwork, and social responsibility, while consistently modeling high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Honor commitment to the school by being present at all scheduled practices and competitions.
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Coach’s Code of Conduct.
  • Train prospective student-athletes, conduct and supervise effective practices and activities, and maintain accurate records of equipment and inventory.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, motivational, and instructional abilities, offering clear guidance to all players.
  • Continuously monitor student-athletes’ academic progress and overall success throughout the season.
  • Collaborate with the cheerleading parents to create a positive experience and promote team bonding among student-athletes.
  • Work with the cheer parents for game day operations, such as the 50/50, bake sale, vertical raise, and other fundraising events.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with the Athletic Director regarding all team matters, including games and tournaments.
  • Partner with the athletic training staff to develop and implement return-to-play protocols for injured student-athletes.
