Adult Program and Services - Thrive Day Habilitation Driver

The Hunterdon County Educational Services Commission is seeking compassionate and reliable  drivers with an excellent driving record and good time management skills to transport individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to and from our THRIVE Day Habilitation program. Drivers must be available early mornings and afternoon shifts. This is an hourly, non-CDL required position. Hourly Rate of $28.00 an hour.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• High school diploma.
• Prior experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred, or as otherwise determined by the Board
• DDD onboarding/vetting process required upon hiring
• Valid driver's license
• Clean driving record
• Clearly speaks and understands English
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Ability to sit, stand, remain stationary, and move for long periods of time. Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely Transporting clients to/from Day Habilitation program 
• Pre-Trip Vehicle checks
• Interacting with clients in a professional and respectful conduct.
• Observe clients for any subtle shifts in mood, physical comfort or atypical behavior and communicate such changes to program coordinator
• Updating monthly mileage records
• Driving a variety of vehicles, including cars, SUVs, vans
• Ability to identify/communicate necessary vehicle care (routine/emergent)
• Participate in professional development training as assigned and/or required
• Other duties as assigned
