Honor Ridge Academy is searching for a Full-Time Structured Learning Experience (SLE) Coordinator to lead our school-to-work transition/job sampling program.

 Some of the Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Assesses student interests and abilities, and develops realistic goals targeting independent living, meaningful employment, or volunteer activities. Provide transition assessment reports and a Student Training Plan (STP).
  2. Supervises and supports Job Coaches with providing on-site training, behavioral support, and advocacy for student interns with a variety of community employers.
  3. Develops, coordinates, and oversees work experience placements for students with disabilities.
  4. Contacts employers and develops community-based opportunities for students to job shadow, have short-term exploratory job placements, and longer-term work experiences.
  5. Conducts periodic site visits with community employers, prepares reports and provides feedback to all parties involved, per State of NJ SLE guidelines. 
  6. Functions as a member of the special education team in providing comprehensive secondary transition services to students with disabilities.

 Qualifications: The qualified candidate must hold a STANDARD instructional teaching certificate and a Student with Disabilities or a Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) certificate; Present evidence of one year of successful teaching experience; and Present evidence of successfully completing the NJ Dept. of Education required SLE coursework. 

 Required Skills: • Ability to build relationships and cultivate natural supports for young workers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Strong customer service orientation, demonstrating the ability to build effective working relationships • Previous experience as a Structured Learning Experience Coordinator is preferred.
