The Hoboken Public Schools are seeking qualified candidates to continue supporting student achievement in the absence of regular classroom teachers on a per diem basis as Substitute Teachers. Successful candidates will exhibit an interest in education and excellent verbal communication skills.
Applicants with appropriate qualifications and skills will be scheduled to interview with a district administrator. Upon a recommendation for hire from the interview, the candidate will be submitted to the board for consideration. An approved agenda hiring action for a candidate represents the state's requirement for district sponsorship. Only after this item is attained should a candidate proceed through the remaining substitute credential certification process, including criminial history review, with the assistance of our district's human resources.

1) Valid NJ County Substitute Teacher Certificate or Valid NJ Teacher Certification
2) Criminal history background check
3) Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
4) Completion of physical and substance screening as applicable
*Please note that the cost related to the substitute certification, physical examination, substance screening, and criminal history background check is the responsibility of the applicant
$80 per diem (with NJ County Substitute Teacher Certificate)
$90 per diem (with NJ Teacher Certification)
An extra $12 per day is paid for any substitute assigned four days in a week
