BERGEN COUNTY SPECIAL SERVICES
ANNOUNCEMENT:  POSITION OPENING  

The Board of Education is seeking applications for the 2025-2026 school year for the following position:

EDUCATIONAL INTERPRETER
(10 Months - Certificated)
HIP Hackensack, Union Street School for the Deaf

Qualifications:

1. Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher or meets current NJDOE minimum performance standards for educational interpreters.
2. Associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
3. NJDOE Educational Services certificate with Educational Interpreter endorsement issued by the state of New Jersey Department of Education, or willingness to work under an emergency certificate while actively pursuing full certification within two years of employment, in accordance with NJDOE regulations.
4. Knowledge and awareness of Deaf culture and the communication needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board deems appropriate and acceptable under state law.

Compensation Rate/Range: $56,145 - $61,145 - Interpreter Level I
$60,645 - $65,645 - Interpreter Level II
