Job Type: Part-time 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Preferred candidate will have 60 college credits and knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practices. Candidates with a high school diploma and willingness to take the paraprofessional assessment are also considered. Candidate should possess a demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities. Candidate must be enthusiastic, reliable and energetic. Candidate must be able to pass an NJDOE criminal history background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be capable of: bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, turning, twisting, standing for extended periods, reaching, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


- Follow school district regulations regarding COVID-19 protocols

- Assists in the supervision of classroom activities under the direction and supervision of the certified classroom teacher, supervisor or other designated certified personnel

- Provides academic, physical and behavioral support to students 

- Encourages students in communicating and with appropriate social interactions

- Helps students with clothing, eating routines and toileting activities

- Works with individuals or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher

- Assists, where appropriate, in loading and unloading students from district transportation

- Assists in playground supervision

- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips

- Aids physically disabled students, particularly those who rely upon appliances and prosthetics

- Completes clerical duties as assigned by the classroom teacher

- Helps the teacher plan and maintain bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays

- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes

- Ability to understand and adhere to, interpret, and apply District policies and procedures

- Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of employees, students, and other sensitive District information

- Participates in in-service training as assigned

- Performs other duties as designated by the Principal
