Paraprofessional B/Bus Aides
.

Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral and reading communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups of students and with all levels of school personnel
Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
HS Diploma/ GED or Equivalent
Must be able to lift 20 lbs
Preferred Requirements
Prior experience helping students with disabilities in an urban setting (strongly preferred)
Prior Bus Aide experience
Role & Responsibilities
Major roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Walk or assist the student from his or her designated drop-off/pick-up address to the bus
Maneuver children in his or her wheelchairs and monitor students so that equipment does not shift during transportation
Secure wheelchairs for transportation
Ensure that students stay in their seats while the bus is in motion
Shall assist such students on and off the bus at school, at designated bus stops, and otherwise when it is necessary for their safe entrance and exit from the bus.
Shall assist the driver with post-trip inspection procedures, checking especially for passengers, special equipment, medication, etc. that may have been left on board the bus.
Adhere to safety rules when loading and unloading pupils.
Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school
Utilize established protocols to report any issues or incidents

Salary Range: Paraprofessional A Salary Guide ($27,500 - $38,415)
Employment Period: 10-month, non-tenureable position
Union Affiliation: Camden Education Association (CEA)
