Clinton Township School District seeks a dynamic, student-centered Middle School Principal serving grades 6-8 to provide school-wide leadership; establishing an instructional vision focused on improving student achievement,  monitoring and supervising instruction; supporting teachers in improving instructional practice, and ability to ensure the effective operation of the school through supporting staff and student. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Valid NJ Principal Certificate or eligibility
  2. Minimum experience as determined by the board
  3. Demonstrates leadership skills in the    areas    of    curriculum    development, program & staff evaluation, staff development, budgeting, academic growth, school improvement, and technology
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  5. Required criminal history background check and proof of   US   citizenship   or legal resident alien status

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Instructional Leadership and School Management

  1. Assumes responsibility for the operation and management of the school in accordance with law,  administrative code, board policies and regulations.
  2. Exercises leadership in school-level planning for improvement of instruction aligned with goals and measurable student outcomes
  3. Establishes and maintains a school climate that promotes high expectations, student engagement, and a culture for learning.
  4. Uses multiple data sources to guide decision making and continuous school improvement
  5. Maintains consistent communication with the superintendent regarding school operations, progress, and needs. 

 

Curriculum and Instruction, and Assessment

  1. Oversees the implementation of district curriculum and ensures alignment with state standards.
  2. Monitors delivery of  the  instruction to ensure rigor, engagement, and differentiation for all learners
  3. Participates in the development, evaluation and revision of curriculum and  assumes responsibility   for the implementation of approved programs, inclusive of the integration of technology.
  4. Oversees and/or supervises all curricular and extracurricular activities to ensure they support student development. 

 

Staff Supervision Evaluation, and Development

  1. Interviews, recommends for appointment, assigns, supervises and  evaluates the   performance   of   all school employees (teachers, support staff) and assists them in achievement of their job goals.
  2. Conducts observations and evaluations of teaching staff member(s); prepares written  comments; and offers constructive suggestions for implementation, when appropriate.
  3. Provides timely, specific feedback to improve professional practice and student outcomes.
  4. Facilitates professional learning aligned to school and district priorities.
  5. Conducts faculty meetings and fosters a collaborative professional culture 

 

Operations, Safety, and Resource Management

  1. Prepares and submits the school's budget requests, in line with district priorities,  and monitors the expenditure of funds.
  2. Establishes and maintains an efficient office system to support the administrative functions    of    the school.
  3. Ensures the safekeeping of student and personnel files and other confidential records  and   documents; along with the destruction of public records in accordance with law and regulations.
  4. Reports incidents of violence,   vandalism    and    substance    abuse.    Works    cooperatively    with    law enforcement authorities in maintaining a safe and drug-free school environment. Ensures the removal of students in possession of verified weapons from the general education program and provides notification as required by law and administrative code.
  5. Prepares or supervises the preparation of all reports, records   and     other     paperwork,     required or appropriate to the school's administration
  6. Develops and maintains a master schedule  for   the   academic, extracurricular   programs   and   works cooperatively with the business office to schedule community use of the school building and grounds.
  7. Ensures the proper collection, safekeeping and accounting of student activity funds.
  8. Plans, schedules and supervises fire and other emergency drills as required by law and board policy.
  9. Creates a Building Emergency Response Team and other required safety teams and runs monthly  meetings regarding school safety
  10. Collaborates with the School Resource Officer regarding school safety 

 

School Climate and Community Engagement

  1. Promotes a positive school culture through visible, consistent engagement with students and staff.
  2. Greets students in a friendly and dependable manner during their morning arrival whenever possible, supervises dismissal, and interacts regularly and appropriately with students during the day
  3. Establishes and maintains high standards of student conduct in accordance with board policy.
  4. Supervises and supports intervention and referral processes for students in need of additional support.
  5. Serves as a liaison between the school, families, and the community.
  6. Attends special events held to recognize student achievement and other    school-sponsored    activities
  7. and functions,
  8. Communicates effectively with parents/guardians regarding school programs, expectations, areas of need, code of conduct and student progress regularly and through conferences

 

Policy Implementation and Legal Compliance

  1. Stay familiar with the policy manual as adopted and updated by  the   school   board,   implements   the policies and reports to the board via the Superintendent on policies that may need modifications
  2. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, codes, and mandated reporting requirements.
  3. Oversees required investigations and reporting procedures (e.g., HIB, student safety matters) in accordance with law.

 

Other

  1. Assumes responsibility for his/her  continuing    professional    growth    and    development    by attendance at professional meetings, memberships in professional organizations, and reading professional journals and other publications.
  2. Performs other duties, which may be assigned or required by law, code,  regulation or board policy.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience (salary range: $110,000 - $155,000), along with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and prescription coverage, as well as sick, personal, and vacation leave in accordance with NJ regulations.
