School Business Administrator

Westbridge Academy – Bloomfield, New Jersey
Full-Time | 12-Month Position

Westbridge Academy, a New Jersey Department of Education-approved private school for students with disabilities (APSSD), is seeking an experienced and highly organized School Business Administrator to provide leadership and oversight of the Academy’s financial and business operations.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished school business professional to join a mission-driven organization and work closely with the Executive Director, Business Office team, fractional CFO, accounting professionals, and Board of Trustees to maintain strong fiscal controls, regulatory compliance, and efficient business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Westbridge Academy Business Office.
  • Support development, administration, and monitoring of the Academy’s annual operating budget.
  • Provide regular budget-to-actual reporting and financial analysis to school leadership.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, payroll coordination, banking, and general financial operations.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and appropriate segregation of fiscal responsibilities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate tuition billing and other financial processes associated with New Jersey sending school districts.
  • Support compliance with applicable NJDOE requirements and APSSD fiscal regulations.
  • Coordinate preparation for annual audits, regulatory reviews, and other fiscal monitoring.
  • Work collaboratively with the Academy’s fractional CFO, accountants, auditors, consultants, and other professional partners.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, purchasing procedures, insurance, and related business functions.
  • Develop and maintain effective Business Office policies, procedures, workflows, and documentation.
  • Provide leadership, training, and supervision to Business Office personnel.
  • Provide financial information and recommendations to the Executive Director and, as appropriate, the Board of Trustees.
  • Perform other business and fiscal responsibilities necessary to support the effective operation of Westbridge Academy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, school business management, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in school business administration, accounting, finance, or comparable fiscal management.
  • New Jersey School Business Administrator certification strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey school finance, budgeting, purchasing, auditing, and fiscal controls strongly preferred.
  • Experience with NJDOE-regulated educational organizations and/or Approved Private Schools for Students with Disabilities (APSSDs) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting and sound financial management practices.
  • Experience supervising or leading Business Office operations and personnel.
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, analytical ability, and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to handle confidential financial and personnel information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with administrators, staff, consultants, auditors, and Board members.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience, qualifications, and credentials $105,000 – $135,000.
