Title: Middle School Girls Assistant Basketball Coach
Woodland School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to assist in leading our middle school girls basketball program.
The Assistant Basketball Coach along with the Head Coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes both on and off the court while creating a positive, supportive, and competitive team environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of basketball, the ability to connect with middle school students, and a commitment to teamwork, sportsmanship, and player development.
Qualifications:
- Previous basketball playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and team strategies.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships and student-athletes while maintaining appropriate expectations and boundaries.
- Commitment to developing student-athletes and building a positive school athletic program.
- Must meet all district and state requirements for coaching positions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, conduct organized, age-appropriate practices focused on basketball fundamentals, skill development, team concepts, conditioning, and game preparation.
- Assist the head coach with supervising the team during practices, games, and other team related activities.
- Assist with creating a positive team culture centered on respect, teamwork, accountability, effort, and sportsmanship.
- Assist the head coach with teaching appropriate basketball skills, strategies, rules, and game concepts.
- Provide meaningful opportunities for student-athlete behavior, attendance, effort, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, school staff, and the Athletic Department.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate expectations for student-athlete behavior, attendance, effort, and sportsmanship.
- Follow all district, athletic department, league, and NJSIAA requirements and policies.
- Serve as a positive role model and representative of Woodland Middle School and the Barrington School District.

Schedule: Practices and games are generally held after school (3:30pm-6:00pm)
Location: Woodland Middle School, Barrington, New Jersey
Compensation: Per the applicable district coaching salary schedule.
