Position Summary

The district seeks a dynamic and engaging Middle School English Language Arts Teacher to join our Grades 6–8 teaching team. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading and writing, promote effective communication, and guide students in developing essential literacy skills aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey Teacher of English (P–12) certification or
    Middle School with Subject Matter Specialization: English Language Arts (Grades 5–8) (Endorsement Code 1106).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent literacy, writing instruction, and the integration of reading and language skills.
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to design engaging lessons that differentiate for diverse learners.
  • Experience with technology integration and digital learning tools preferred.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in English Language Arts for grades 6–8.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, discussion, and respect.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through multiple measures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth and progress.
  • Participate in schoolwide initiatives and professional learning opportunities.

 

Compensation

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the New Hanover Township Education Association negotiated agreement.
