GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible to develop curriculum to teach independent living skills to CAU membership. Responsible to train staff to deliver curriculum. Responsible to monitor delivery and edit material annually.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

BA/BS Minimum in education/special education/NJ Teacher Certification. Three years of experience working in the field of youth and/ or developmental disabilities.

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

· Ability to maintain appropriate relationships with people with disabilities and at-risk adolescents utilizing normalization principles

· Ability to interact effectively with all levels of CAU staff, members’ families, and within the community

· Ability to express oneself, both in writing and verbally, in a comprehensive manner, using the English language

· Good planning and organization skills

· Working knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Office products

· Ability to be resourceful and work independently

· Ability to perform basic mathematical functions

· Ability to problem-solve

· Ability to deliver effective presentations

· Ability to deliver effective training programs

Access to an vehicle, valid driver’s license and safe driving record required

JOB TASKS

· Develop and implement Independent Living Skills Curricula based on member educational needs

· Provide staff training on independent living skills curriculums

· Oversees implementation and follow-up of independent living skills in CAU programs

· Evaluate member educational and training needs

· Assist in creation of member training programs

· Provide member training

· Maintain educational resource directory

· Cooperate with Agency DCP&P and DDD staff in any inspection or investigation

· Facilitate anger management groups as per contractual needs

· Provide teaching instructions to youth at the County Shelter

· Ensures compliance with wearing a mask when mandated by State, Federal, and Licensing authorities during a public health crisis/pandemic.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.63 per hour
