The Berlin Township School District, located in Camden County, New Jersey, is seeking qualified candidates for a full time, interim School Counselor position at the Middle School. Candidates must possess appropriate New Jersey certification for school counseling services. The district is committed to excellence in education through a strong belief that each and every student can learn at high levels. The ideal candidate must possess the following:
- Ability to assume professional responsibility for providing comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling services in the areas of educational planning and social and emotional development for middle level students
- Skills to work collaboratively with members of the school staff and with parents and local resource agencies all with a wide range of personalities and backgrounds
- Capacity to serve as an advocate for the students, arranging for appropriate resources when necessary and assisting students in understanding the school and its environment
- Practical knowledge of the development and application and documentation/data collection of individual behavior management strategies for students
- Creativity in leading school-wide events to promote school climate and social skills for students
- Thorough knowledge of the New Jersey Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying Law and creative and effective anti-bully practices for the school
- Must be highly organized including the use of technology applications to assist with the managerial tasks associated with the position
- Must possess excellent speaking and writing skills and emotional intelligence capacity
