Description

Oak Knoll Summer Adventures, a traditional day camp for children ages 3-15, seeks Counselors for summer 2024, which runs from June 24 through August 9, 2024. We seek candidates who enjoy working with children and are interested in “being a kid for the summer” by participating in camp activities.

Reporting to the Camp Director, Counselor Responsibilities include:

  • Attend staff training
  • Assist with camp set-up and break-down
  • Set up designated classroom for group home base
  • Develop activities for your group in response to their needs and interests
  • Understand the daily schedule and coordinate your program with the daily schedule
  • Sign in each day in the office BEFORE 8:30 a.m., and report to your designated area by 8:30 a.m. to greet campers and parents
  • Know, understand, and follow emergency procedures
  • Consider the safety of all children and staff in activities planned and decisions made
  • Use the property and equipment of Oak Knoll in a responsible manner, return all equipment to appropriate locations
  • Report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to the appropriate personnel, and complete forms to document.
  • Supervise and sit with your group during lunch, and ensure tables are cleaned
  • Get all parent notes to the office with attendance or as soon as possible.
  • Maintain communication with staff, parents, campers, and Director
  • Work with other staff for the good of the children
  • Complete all paperwork as requested, including attendance and lunch forms
  • Guide the children in solving problems
  • Direct assistant counselors as needed, know their whereabouts when they are not with group
  • Remain with your group during their visit to a special, coordinate break times for you and assistant during specials that do not require both of you
  • Assist in car line at the end of the day – Check ID on every person picking up children. Contact the Director with discrepancies.
  • Sign-out in the office if leaving campus during break
  • Become familiar with each child and parents in your group, and help that child develop his/her potential while at Oak Knoll.
  • Create an inventory list for all supplies and equipment stored
