JOB OPENING –Teacher of Middle School Math

Full-time Position Available: September 1st for the 2024-2025 school year.

Lawrence Township BOE is hiring a Middle School Math Teacher for Myron L. Powell School for the 2024-2025 school year. Certification with a middle school math endorsement from the State of NJ is required. Myron L. Powell School enrolls students Grades PK through 8.

Job Goal:

To effectively teach math aligned with the NJSLS to students in grades 6th-8th.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of subject area specialty and effective teaching methods
  • Experience in public school setting (preferably middle school
  • Understanding of child and adolescent development
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but not limited to:

  • W Work to achieve state core curriculum content standards and district educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning and skills development in the classroom.
  • Teach pupils through an approved course of study using board-adopted curricula, textbooks, and other appropriate teaching materials.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provides opportunities for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil's needs.
  • Set specific objectives wherever possible in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carry through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives.
  • Assess pupil academic progress and personal growth toward stated objectives of instruction.
  • Maintain records of educational progress and summarize for reporting purposes.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and resolving learning problems.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Budget class time effectively.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss pupil progress.
  • Devise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking and the reproduction of facts.
  • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
  • Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
  • Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
  • Make effective use of community resources to enhance the instructional program.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
  • Perform other duties within his/her employment and certification as assigned.
  • Maintain on-line communication of grades, homework, and attendance as directed and consistent with board policy and applicable code.

Reports to:

Reports directly to the Chief School Administrator. Salary commensurate with experience.

Salary: $68,099 - $88,449 to be adjusted pending negotiations per year

License/Certification:

  • Elementary School or N-12 subject matter endorsement
  • Mathematics Grades 5 – 8 Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (Preferred)
