Description

The Midland School Principal is responsible for providing leadership and effective management to ensure the overall success and excellence of Midland. The Principal serves as the educational leader, overseeing all aspects of school operations, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting the academic achievement and well-being of students.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Educational Leadership:
    • Develop and communicate a clear vision and mission for the school program that aligns with Midland goals and educational standards;
    • Lead initiatives to improve student achievement and promote a culture of continuous improvement;
    • Foster a positive and inclusive school climate that values diversity, equity, and respect for all members of the school community;
  • Administrative Management:
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, including budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and facilities management;
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations and Midland policies;
    • Oversee the development and implementation of school policies and procedures to support academic success and student well-being;
  • Instructional Leadership:
    • Support and evaluate teachers in implementing effective instructional practices and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students;
    • Lead curriculum development efforts to ensure alignment with state standards and best practices in education;
    • Utilize data analysis to assess student progress, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions to enhance teaching and learning;
  • Student Support and Discipline:
    • Establish and maintain a positive and safe school climate conducive to learning;
    • Implement a comprehensive student support system, including counseling services, intervention programs, and behavior management strategies;
    • Address disciplinary issues promptly and fairly, promoting restorative practices and positive behavior interventions when appropriate;
  • Community Engagement:
    • Build strong partnerships with parents, guardians, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support student success;
    • Communicate regularly with stakeholders through newsletters, meetings, and other channels to promote transparency and collaboration;
    • Represent the school at community events and collaborate with external agencies to enhance resources and opportunities for students;
  • Professional Development:
    • Provide opportunities for ongoing professional growth and development for staff members, including mentorship, coaching, and professional learning communities;
    • Support teacher leadership and encourage innovation and creativity in instructional practices;
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS

  • MA or equivalent from an accredited college or university;
  • New Jersey Principal’s Certificate;
  • New Jersey Criminal Review Clearance;
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and leading school improvement initiatives;
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to maintain and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of current educational trends, research and best practices with an emphasis in Special Education;
