School Health Aide/Nurse (RN or LPN)
Rock Brook School in Montgomery Township, NJ, is currently seeking an LPN or RN to serve as a general school healthcare aide or as a 1:1 healthcare aide within a classroom setting providing both medical and academic support to students. The selected candidate will also serve as an advocate for the health and well being of students, as needed, across the school. Responsibilities include general health care, first aid, and general care of those who are ill or injured while in the school. When not attending to specific healthcare needs, this nursing position includes working as part of a collaborative academic support team.
Requirements/Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
- Experience as an LPN or RN
- Current NJ nursing license
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR and AED.
- Criminal history background check, TB test and physical required
- Compassionate and eager to work with students with special needs
- Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
- Assist students, as needed, in their daily personal tasks- e.g., mobility, toileting, changing bandages or dressings, caring for skin, assisting with braces
- If needed, provide G-Tube feeding
- Administer first aid as needed and provide general care of those who are ill or injured while in school
- Assist the certified school nurse with screenings
Term/Salary/Benefits
- Full-Time school year position with a five-week Extended School Year program
- Competitive salary, health benefits, pension plan and Paid Time Off
- Salary: Based upon experience and background (current range $35,000-$43,500)
