Description Qualifications: ? Valid New Jersey Supervisor, School Administrator or Principal Certificate ? Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience ? Knowledge of NJSLS and current best practices in teaching ? Demonstrated leadership in staff supervision, evaluation, and/or instructional leadership, school improvement, program development, curriculum integration, and application of technology across the curriculum ? Ability to plan, organize, and administer a district-level professional development program ? Required criminal history background check Performance Responsibilities: 1. Conceptualize the direction and goals of the District's ELA and Social Studies 6-12 programs and ensure its proper implementation. 2. Demonstrate initiative in developing programs consistent with the overall policies and direction of the school system. 3. Assist in the planning and preparation of requests for additional programs to be funded by any federal or state agencies, and/or any private organizations or foundations. 4. Ensure proper implementation of the District’s ELA and Social Studies 6-12 programs according to applicable statutes and regulations. 5. Supervise all aspects of ELA and Social Studies 6-12 curriculum development, including distribution, use and collection of all ELA and Social Studies materials and resources. 6. Coordinate staff planning efforts leading to the development of any instructional equipment, basic study, and reference or resource materials for ELA and Social Studies 6-12 programs throughout the district. 7. Assist in evaluating certificated staff who support or implement ELA and Social Studies 6-12 curriculum. 8. Organize and implement in-service programs to help ELA and Social Studies 6-12 teachers and specialists attain and maintain a high degree of professional competence. 9. Ensure the proper training of those identified to work on curriculum writing and related activities. 10. Assist in providing in-service orientation and induction training for all new ELA and Social Studies 6- 12 teachers and specialists in the District. 11. Supervise and support the identification of students requiring remediation in ELA and Social Studies using school, teacher, and parental resources. 12. Coordinate development of comprehensive diagnostic assessment instruments to identify, analyze and address specific skill deficiencies in ELA and Social Studies. 13. Collaborate with the Supervisor of ELA and Social Studies K-5 and Special Education on any issues related to remedial programs in ELA and Social Studies, including the development and implementation of any ELA and Social Studies related remedial instructional programs, as well as on any co-teaching activities to ensure that all remediation is aligned with and supports mainstream classroom ELA and Social Studies instruction. 14. Conduct staff meetings and provide leadership, instruction and motivation, while also maintaining morale, efficiency and professional growth of those teaching ELA and Social Studies 6-12. 15. Work with principals as needed, on the preparation of their yearly schedules for ELA and Social Studies 6-12 teachers and specialists. 16. Assist in the supervision of Middle and High School Institutes, as assigned. 17. Participate in administrative and supervisory meetings. 18. Assist in preparing, developing and organizing budget, bids and requisitions. 19. Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Terms of Employment: Full Time - 12 Months Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of NJ Achieve.
